Sony, what were you thinking?,
February 25, 2008 This review is from: Sony TDM-NW1 Digital Media Port Dock for Network Walkman (Electronics)
I purchased the TDM-NW1 digital media port adaptor to connect my Sony Walkman NWZ-A816 to my Sony ES receiver. Sadly however I discovered that this particular adaptor is unable to provide playlist information through my receiver's on-screen GUI. Oddly the iPod adaptor that Sony also manufactures allows the iPod to provide song, artist, album and track information to my receiver's GUI. Overall the TDM-NW1 adaptor performs as advertised; it's just odd that a non Sony MP3 player(iPod)works better with my Sony receiver than a Sony MP3 player.

We recently purchased a Sony Bravia Home theater system. It included a similar dock for an i-pod. Since we have a Sony Walkman (NWZ-A816) we couldn't use the dock. However the operating instructions for the home theater claimed that you could access music, pictures and video through a digital port adapter and even control the attached device with your remote control. So we purchased this item directly from sony:
Digital Media Port Walkman® Cradle
Connects your Walkman® Video MP3 player to the Digital Media Port on BRAVIA® Theatre systems.
All the unit does is play mp3 files and charge the battery. When we contacted Sony customer service, we were informed that only the i-pod docks work as described in the manual. Sad that Sony would want want you to buy an i-pod rather than a walkman.

I have a Sony Walkman E-465. I only use it for music. This port allows me to play my Walkman thru the DM port on my Sony receiver. It works great and sounds great. It is very basic, and only for those who simply want to listen to music from their Walkman MP3 thru their receiver. NOTE: The receiver must be a SONY and have a DM Port. E-365 Walkman's will NOT fit this port. I don't know about A-series or S-series.
